The event dedicated to Khatin tragedy and Khojaly genocide was held at BSU

On March 16, Baku Slavic University (BSU) hosted an event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Belarusian Patriotic War and the 26th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

The event was organized by the Belarusian Embassy in Azerbaijan and the Belarusian Language and Culture Center of the BSU.

At the beginning of the event, the chief advisor of the Belarusian embassy, Mikhail Karach, informed about the tragedy. M.Karacz's tragedy is one of thousands of facts confirming the Nazis' purposeful genocide policy against the Belarusian population: "There have been hundreds of such tragedies in 1941-1944, when the occupation of Belarus continued. All 149 residents of Khatin village who were supposed to provide aid to the guerrillas were burned or shot alive in accordance with the general collective punishment principle. The mass destruction of the civilian population has become one of the most sad pages in the history of the Great Patriotic War, the symbol of the Belarusian people's tragedy. " Speaking about the tragedy of Mikhail Karach, he commemorated the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide and expressed profound respect for the civilian population who had been brutally killed by the Armenians.

Then a documentary film about the tragedy of Khatin was demonstrated.

The event continued with discussion. Prof. Rafiq Novruzov, Head of International Relations Department, Ulviyya Abbasova, Head of the Belarusian Language and Culture Center, Albina Seyidova, professors and teachers of the Department of International Relations and students shared their views on the subject. The speakers noted that the tragedy of Khatin village is very similar to the tragedy of Khojaly in Azerbaijan. The only difference is that the events in Khatin village took place during the military era and the inhabitants of Khojaly were brutally murdered during the period when no official military action was carried out.

The event was organized by the Belarusian Language and Culture Center jointly with the Belarusian embassy and a slide and slide. The video contains similar images of the Khojaly genocide and the tragedy of Hathan.

At the end, students performed poems dedicated to Khojaly and Khatin tragedy.
