An event dedicated to the International Mother Language Day was held at the Baku Slavic University

                    

     On February 21, an event dedicated to the International Mother Language Day was held at the Baku Slavic University (BSU) and organized by the faculty "Azerbaijani Philology and Journalism".

     The event began with the sound of the national anthem. Speaking after the solemn part of the dean of the faculty "Azerbaijan Philology and Journalism", associate professor Nurida Novruzova greeted teachers and students, congratulated them on the International Mother Language Day. In her speech she informed the participants about the history of the language and noted the importance of policies aimed at the development of the native language.

     Then the participants were shown a video, reflecting the importance that the national leader Heydar Aliyev attached to the Azerbaijani language.

     At the event, the heads of the departments acting at the faculty and teachers spoke. Students read poetry poems dedicated to their native language.

     The event ended with the song "Shirin dil" performed by Gyulaga Mammadov.

     Recall that in November 1999, on the initiative of the Government of Bangladesh, UNESCO declared February 21 the International Mother Language Day.
