The Academic Council of Baku Slavic University at its meeting held on May 23,2002 by the unanimous decision awarded the Chairman of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Mikhailovich Mironov the title of BSU Honorary Doctor for his contribution to consolidation of peace and cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan, and the encouragement of cultural relations between the nations and for his personal effrts to sustain peace in the area.
